What type of school is this?

Providence Cristo Rey High School is a private, Catholic, college and career preparatory high school in Indianapolis. It is part of the Cristo Rey Network, a national network of private, Catholic high schools dedicated to serving students that are economically disadvantaged.

Where is Providence Cristo Rey High School located?
We are located on the Near Southside of Indianapolis at 2717 S. East St. Indianapolis, IN 46225. We are right around the corner from Garfield Park and just minutes off the Redline!

What kind of student does PCRHS accept?
Providence Cristo Rey High School is looking for students who consistently pass or excel in their classes, and who are motivated to go to college. Because each student also participates in the Corporate Work Study Program, each applicant has to be legally eligible to work. Students should not have excessive absences or discipline referrals. Each application is reviewed by our Admissions Committee, and an admissions decision is made on a case-by-case basis. For more information on applying, click here.

 

Do you accept students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)?

Yes. Since each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, there are instances when we can accept students who have an IEP. 

 

What kinds of classes do students take?
All of our students take college prep courses with the goal of earning a Core 40 or Core 40 with Honors Diploma. 

 

What is the school day like?
The school day starts at 7:50 a.m. Students have eight periods of class and a lunch/advisory period. Each week, the student also spends one day on the job at a Corporate Work Study site from about 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

 

Do you have to be Catholic to attend PCRHS?
No. In fact, about half of our students are not Catholic. However, as part of Cristo Rey Network requirements, students take four years of Theology classes. In this class, students study what the Catholic Church teaches on a variety of subjects and are encouraged to grow in their own faith tradition. In addition, students pray daily, participate in prayer services and Masses, and go on annual class retreats. Our goal as a Catholic school is to form students who will take the lead in creating a more just society and a more hopeful future for themselves and others. 

  

What kind of transportation does the school provide?
We have more than 100+ bus pick-up points on the east, far east, mid-town, north, central, and west sides of Indianapolis. We choose our shuttle points based on where clusters of our families are located. We do our best to ensure that each students' bus stop is within a mile radius from their home. Providence Cristo Rey also transports students from school to their Corporate Work Study site. We also provide IndyGo passes free of charge to our students. 

 

How much does it cost to attend PCRHS?
All families are expected to pay a portion of tuition called the family contribution. The students earn a large portion of their tuition through the Corporate Work Study Program. Due to our high level of financial assistance, the average family contribution for tuition is only between $300 - $500 a year.
